Marcus Food Co., Inc. is a diversified food wholesale, processing, and marketing company with annual sales in excess of $200 million.
The Marcus Family has been involved in the USA food market since the 1930’s when Mr Sam Marcus founded the Excel Beef Co.. Under Marcus family leadership, that company grew to approximately $3 Billion in sales.
The Marcus family sold their interests in “Excel” in the late 1970’s. In 1980, following the sale of “Excel”, and utilizing the capital from that sale, Mr Howard Marcus (son of Excel Beef’s founder) formed the Marcus Food Co.
Since it’s founding, Marcus Food Co. has grown steadily and it’s product mix has become more diversified over the years. Products marketed by Marcus Food Co. now include fresh and frozen beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and seafood.
The Fisheries Division of Marcus Food Co.
The Fisheries Division of Marcus Food Co. is located in California and is involved with catching, packing, freezing, marketing, and exporting 20-30,000 Metric Tons of fish per year. The majority of the fish handled by the Fisheries Division is caught in California USA coastal waters offshore from Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties, and, in waters surrounding the Channel Islands.
The company became involved in a Commercial Fishing and Fish Packing operation in California 11 years ago when Marcus Corporate Headquarters agreed to finance our Fisheries Division’s ongoing operations.
